More info on the project
We got inspired for this construction by an advertisement about 4 bumper cars that caught our attention. We thought that the cars that we used to play when we were little, they could be modified and give that joy to adults at the present. Our main thought was to transform them into small drift vehicles that could be competed in small spaces by friends for fun and when accidentally bump into each other they won’t cause any damage.
Initially, we will modify one of them to spot the difficulties and the problems that might be faced and then the rest. After we had driven one of them as it was originally made with its electric motor we realised that it is unable to reach high speeds so we decided to use an 110cc engine.
Regarding its size, to make it big enough to fit an adult huge changes should have been made. Firstly, we unscrewed all the factory-made parts that were useless for our construction. Then, we put a new fork in the front with a wheel taken by a go kart that is capable to reach higher speeds. Afterwards, we made a metallic frame which was connected with the bumper car’s base so that its chassis becomes longer to fit us in as well as to make the basis where the axis and the engine will be placed.
